Apple Expands Self-Service Repair Program to iPads

Apple has officially extended its Self Service Repair program to include select iPad models, marking a significant expansion of its DIY repair initiative. The announcement, made on May 28, 2025, empowers users to perform their own repairs using genuine Apple parts, tools, and diagnostics.

Starting immediately, the program covers:

  • iPad Air (M2 and later)
  • iPad Pro (M4)
  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)
  • iPad (A16)

  • Batteries
  • Cameras
  • External charging ports

What Does the Program Offer?

Apple’s Self Service Repair provides:

  • Step-by-step repair manuals (identical to those used in Apple Stores)
  • Genuine Apple parts and tools
  • Apple Diagnostics for troubleshooting
  • Rental toolkits for complex repairs

“Our goal is to create the world’s greatest products that last as long as possible,” said Brian Naumann, Apple’s VP of AppleCare. “This expansion enables more customers to extend their device’s lifespan without compromising safety or privacy.”

Launched in 2022, Self Service Repair now supports 65 Apple products, including:

  • iPhone 16e
  • MacBook Air
  • Mac Studio

Canada will soon become the 34th country with access to the program.

Apple also highlighted updates to its Genuine Parts Distributor program, which supplies independent repair shops with authentic components. Key details:
