Build.security Raises $6M to Simplify Authorization for Developers

Build.security, a Tel Aviv and Sunnyvale-based cybersecurity startup, has announced a $6 million seed funding round led by YL Ventures, with participation from prominent industry leaders including CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz and former Zscaler CISO Michael Sutton. This investment underscores the growing demand for innovative authorization solutions in modern application development.

Addressing a Critical Security Gap

Founded by cybersecurity veterans Amit Kanfer (CEO) and Dekel Braunstein (CTO), build.security aims to transform how developers implement authorization policies. Unlike authentication, which has numerous mature solutions, authorization remains a complex challenge for engineering teams.

“Authorization requires combining multiple attributes—identity, resources, context—into scalable, manageable policies,” explained Kanfer. “With microservices architectures becoming standard, this complexity only increases.”

The Build.security Approach

The platform offers:

  • Policy-as-code implementation similar to infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Drag-and-drop interface for simplified policy creation
  • Open Policy Agent (OPA) integration for flexible rule definition
  • Multi-environment deployment (cloud and on-premises)
  • Broad language support including Python, Node.js, and .NET

Why Authorization Matters Now

Modern applications face dynamic security challenges:

  • Remote work environments
  • Device trust considerations
  • Context-aware access requirements
  • Microservices complexity

Traditional solutions struggle to address these variables effectively. Build.security’s platform provides the flexibility needed for today’s distributed applications.

Industry Validation

“Build.security makes authorization accessible for developers,” said John Brennan of YL Ventures. “Their plug-and-play approach to API and function-level authorization solves a critical pain point for secure software development at scale.”

With this funding, the company plans to expand its platform capabilities and meet growing enterprise demand for robust authorization solutions. The participation of top cybersecurity executives in this round signals strong industry confidence in build.security’s approach to modern security challenges.
