Facebook Brings Messenger Day Stories to the Web
Last month, Facebook extended its Snapchat-inspired ‘Stories’ feature—Messenger Day—to its Messenger platform. While most users focused on its mobile rollout, the company quietly introduced the feature to Messenger.com, marking its first web-based Stories integration.
How Messenger Day Works on the Web
The web experience differs significantly from the mobile app:
- No Story Feed: Unlike mobile, Messenger.com doesn’t display a row of active stories. Instead, users must manually search for contacts to check their updates.
- View-Only Mode: The web version supports watching stories but doesn’t allow posting new content.
- Chatbox Notifications: On Facebook.com, users may see prompts to view a contact’s Day within the chat interface. Clicking these opens the story as an overlay.

- Discovery Challenges: Stories aren’t aggregated in a central hub—users must check individual profiles.

Why This Move Matters
