RemotePass Raises $5.5M Series A to Simplify Remote Hiring and Payments

As remote work cements its place in the modern workforce, companies worldwide face new challenges in onboarding, managing, and compensating distributed teams across borders. This shift has fueled demand for innovative HR and payroll solutions tailored for remote operations.

Funding and Investor Backing

UAE-based RemotePass, a platform enabling businesses to onboard, manage, and pay remote workers globally, has secured $5.5 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Istanbul’s 212 VC, with participation from:

  • Endeavor Catalyst
  • Khwarizmi Ventures
  • Oraseya Capital
  • Flyer One Ventures
  • Access Bridge Ventures
  • A15
  • Swiss Founders Fund

From Travel Tech to Remote Work Pioneer

Founded in late 2020 by CEO Kamal Reggad and Karim Nadi, RemotePass originated as SafarPass - a SaaS solution for corporate travel management. When the pandemic disrupted business travel, the team pivoted to address their own pain points managing a remote workforce across the UAE, Africa, and Europe.

“We experienced payment delays and compliance uncertainties firsthand,” Reggad told TechCrunch. “Recognizing these challenges would plague other distributed teams, we built RemotePass to simplify cross-border hiring and payments.”

Rapid Growth and Market Differentiation

Capitalizing on the remote work boom, RemotePass achieved:

  • 35% month-over-month growth during its first two years
  • 2x revenue increase between 2022-2023
  • Service to 600+ companies and 8,000+ remote workers

While competing with giants like Deel and Remote, the platform differentiates through:

  • Specialization in emerging markets (Middle East and Africa)
  • Localized financial services including USD debit cards
  • Comprehensive benefits including health insurance for dependents
  • End-to-end contractor management and Employer of Record (EoR) services

Business Model and Future Plans

RemotePass operates on a subscription model:

  • $40/month per contractor
  • \(350-\)699/month per full-time employee (varies by country and services)

The new funding will support:

  1. Enhanced enterprise product capabilities
  2. Expansion in high-growth markets like Saudi Arabia
  3. Development of direct user access (independent of employer enrollment)

“RemotePass solves critical workforce challenges by connecting companies with global talent while providing emerging market workers access to financial solutions previously out of reach,” said Ali Hikmet Karabey of 212 VC.

With remote work becoming permanent, platforms like RemotePass are redefining how businesses build and maintain distributed teams in an increasingly borderless workforce landscape.
