Twitch has announced that the number of video creators who profit from their Twitch content has climbed to 27,000 Partners, a significant increase since last year. In addition, there are now 150,000 Affiliates making money on the platform.
To give you an idea of how these numbers have grown in just one year, here’s a comparison:
- Last April, there were 17,000 Partners and 2.2 million unique monthly broadcasters on Twitch.
- Now, there are 27,000 Partners out of roughly the same number of monthly streamers (approximately two million).
The growth in the Partner community could be due to factors such as increased competition with YouTube Gaming, which grew its streamer base by 343% in 2017. However, it’s also worth noting that Twitch has made it easier for regular streamers to join the Affiliate Program and start earning money.
Despite not disclosing specific revenue figures, Twitch revealed that 223 percent more creators are now making money from their video content on Twitch compared to last year. The company also pointed out daily visitors have grown to over 15 million and there’s currently over 124 million clips hosted on the platform.
In addition to this growth, extensions - add-ons that allow gamers customize their channels - have been adopted by over 1,700 developers since its introduction last August. Twitch has also witnessed a surge in vlogging and creative content creation within its community.
