Even Pebble, once a smartwatch darling, sold to Fitbit for a fraction of its valuation. But while U.S. investors retreat, China is emerging as a beacon for hardware innovation. Here’s why:

China’s reputation for affordability has evolved beyond cheap labor—it’s now a strategic advantage for hardware companies. With high production costs often dooming startups, access to budget-friendly parts and skilled labor is critical.
