#Bustle, a millennial women’s everything blog, has secured around $30 million in new funding as it embarks on an acquisition spree.
This significant cash injection for the company, which has built a mini media empire that reaches nearly 80 million unique monthly visitors across its sites, will enable Bustle to further expand and acquire other women’s media properties.
Bustle, which acquired Elite Daily last year, was also reportedly in the running for acquiring Rolling Stone and Mashable when these titles were being shopped around.
Proudly founded by Bryan Goldberg (a co-founder of Bleacher Report) in 2013, Bustle has come a long way since its initial launch. After an early stumble following a less-than-glowing New Yorker profile, the company found its stride and kept its audience, while also expanding its reach with the launch of new sites like the millennial-mom focused Romper.
Its Elite Daily acquisition appears to point the way forward for Bustle. Since Bustle’s launch in 2013, several new sites have emerged to cover different industries from a women’s perspective. Whether it’s The Relish taking on sports or Blue Fever, new media is embracing a certain demographic of women consumers.
With the $30 million in fresh capital, Bustle will be well-positioned to acquire some of these new sites. The company has already raised almost $50 million from investors, including GGV, General Catalyst, Saban Capital Group and Social Capital, according to Crunchbase.
