DocPlanner Raises $1M to Fuel European Expansion
Warsaw-based DocPlanner, a leading online medical and dental appointment scheduling platform, has secured $1 million in Series A funding to accelerate its growth across Europe. The round was led by prominent investors including Point Nine Capital, Piton Capital, RTA Ventures, and several local angel investors. This marks DocPlanner’s first venture capital funding round, having previously relied on founder investments.
Dominating Eastern Europe’s Digital Healthcare Market
DocPlanner has already established itself as the go-to platform for online doctor bookings in Poland and the Czech Republic, boasting 1.5 million and 600,000 monthly unique users respectively. Founded in 2010 by Mariusz Gralewski (also behind Poland’s top professional network, GoldenLine), the startup initially launched in Poland before expanding to:
- Czech Republic
- Slovakia
- Russia
- Germany
With this new funding, DocPlanner plans to enter five additional markets, primarily in Eastern Europe, while also enhancing its core appointment scheduling technology.
How DocPlanner Works
The platform operates through localized websites (e.g., DrScore.ru in Russia) that enable patients to:
- Book appointments in real-time via doctors’ digital calendars
- Compare availability across healthcare providers
- Receive SMS reminders for upcoming visits
Currently, DocPlanner serves over 2.5 million monthly users and generates substantial revenue, with potential for profitability if growth were prioritized less aggressively.
A Vision for Global Healthcare Accessibility
Gralewski emphasized the company’s mission:
“Our goal is to become the global standard for online doctor appointments. This funding allows us to bring our solution to new markets while refining our technology to better serve both private and public healthcare systems.”
DocPlanner sees significant untapped potential in public healthcare digitization, particularly in Eastern Europe where many state-run systems still lack online booking capabilities. The startup aims to bridge this gap while continuing its expansion across the continent.
