Tarjimly’s Solution
Tarjimly is a nonprofit platform that connects volunteers who speak two languages with those in need of translation. The service focuses on bridging the gap between refugees and aid workers in real-time, handling time-sensitive matters such as distribution of food and water or explaining an injury.
How it Works
Tarjimly is currently available on Facebook Messenger and will soon be released as a multi-platform app. Aid providers or refugees indicate their language needs, and Tarjimly finds the most suitable volunteer for the job. The messages are relayed through the chat interface, making the user’s ID anonymous.
Free and Sustainable
Tarjimly aims to fund its service through grants and donations to keep it free for refugees. The founders believe that with a strong community of volunteers and support from NGOs and governments, they can create a sustainable model for their platform.
Impact
Since its launch, Tarjimly has helped over 1,000 refugees with the assistance of more than 2,500 translators. The efficiency of the service in terms of cost versus impact makes it an ideal solution for those affected by emergencies and disasters.
