Inito Raises $6M Series A to Expand AI-Powered Fertility Monitoring

Bengaluru-based healthtech startup Inito, a Y Combinator alum, has secured $6 million in Series A funding led by Fireside Ventures. The company’s innovative fertility monitoring system empowers women to track key hormones at home with lab-grade accuracy—delivering results in just 10 minutes via smartphone.

From Kayaking Conversations to Cutting-Edge Healthtech

Founded in 2015 by Aayush Rai (CEO) and Varun A Venkatesan (CTO)—former Siemens medtech experts—Inito was born from a shared vision to create impactful health solutions. The duo transitioned from weekend kayaking discussions to developing a device that demystifies fertility data for everyday users.

How Inito’s Technology Stands Out

Unlike traditional ovulation tests that only measure estrogen and luteinizing hormone (LH), Inito’s FDA-registered Class I medical device tracks four critical hormones:

  • Estrogen
  • LH
  • Progesterone metabolite (PdG)
  • Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)

Key advantages:

  • Eliminates guesswork with numerical hormone values (not just yes/no results)
  • Confirms ovulation via PdG tracking
  • Personalizes fertility windows based on individual cycles
  • Integrates with a dedicated app for cycle tracking and AI-driven insights

User Experience: Lab-Quality Testing at Home

The $149 starter kit includes:

  1. A smartphone-compatible monitor
  2. 15 test strips
  3. Access to the Inito app (iOS-only currently)

How it works:

  1. Dip test strip in urine
  2. Attach monitor to phone
  3. Insert strip for analysis
  4. Receive detailed hormone reports within minutes

The AI Advantage: 2.5 Million Tests and Growing

With over 2.5 million tests completed, Inito’s dataset is training AI algorithms to:

  • Correlate hormones with symptoms/moods
  • Predict optimal conception windows
  • Identify cycle irregularities

“Our AI doesn’t just show numbers—it explains results in plain language and connects hormone patterns to bodily changes,” explains CEO Aayush Rai.

Future Roadmap: Beyond Fertility

The funding will accelerate:

  • Android app development
  • New product R&D (pregnancy health/male fertility tests)
  • Advanced analytics integrating sleep/medication data

CTO Varun Venkatesan envisions Inito becoming as commonplace as thermometers: “We’re building a future where every home has access to professional-grade health diagnostics.”

With $15M total funding to date (including backing from ex-Nurx CEO Varsha Rao), Inito is poised to redefine personalized health monitoring—starting with fertility, but with ambitions spanning broader wellness diagnostics.
