Juni Raises €2.1M Seed Round to Empower E-Commerce and Digital Marketers

Juni, a Swedish fintech startup developing a specialized banking platform for e-commerce and online marketing businesses, has successfully closed a €2.1 million seed funding round. The company plans to officially launch its services in early 2021.

Key Investors and Strategic Backing

The funding round was led by Berlin’s Cherry Ventures, marking one of the first investments by new partner Sophia Bendz, the former Spotify marketing executive turned VC. The round also attracted prominent angel investors, including:

  • Jarno Vanahatapio (Founder/CEO of NA-KD)
  • Johan Bendz (Former CSO of iZettle)

Founded by Samir El-Sabini and Anders Orsedal, Juni aims to become the ultimate financial companion for digital entrepreneurs by offering:

  • Smart debit cards with cashback rewards on advertising spend
  • Automated cash flow management tools
  • Invoice-to-transaction matching technology
  • Multi-account dashboard for centralized financial oversight

With e-commerce experiencing unprecedented growth (accelerating 10 years’ worth of expansion in just three months during 2020), Juni addresses critical pain points:

While currently leveraging Railsbank’s Banking-as-a-Service infrastructure, Juni may pursue its own banking license within 5-7 years. The immediate focus remains on building superior functionality tailored to e-commerce workflows.
