• Have either:
  • A verified phone number
  • Two-factor authentication enabled

How the Community Notes System Works

• Character Limit: 500 characters per note
• Source Requirement: All notes must include supporting links
• Approval Process: Notes only appear when users with historically divergent ratings agree on their helpfulness
• Content Standards: All submissions must comply with Meta’s Community Standards

Meta emphasizes that “Notes will be written and rated by contributors, not by Meta,” maintaining a decentralized approach to content moderation.

Transparency and Future Plans

The company states: “We intend to be transparent about how different viewpoints inform the Notes displayed in our apps.” While currently limited to U.S. users, Meta hasn’t announced international expansion timelines.
