Its services are now accessible across 25 countries, including a total of approximately 1,000 employees worldwide.
Speaking to Reuters about the decision to open an engineering hub in Ireland, Stripe’s CEO Patrick Collison highlighted several factors that contributed to this choice. Firstly, he mentioned that Ireland has maintained a consistent approach towards being outward-looking and globally oriented. This was particularly crucial for the company as it evaluates various European countries for potential hires.
Another factor is Brexit. The uncertainty surrounding Britain’s future post-Brexit played a role in Stripe’s decision to open an engineering hub in Ireland, providing greater stability for the firm in the long run. Additionally, Collison stated that the country has a strong pool of tech talent and an excellent business environment.
