StubHub Music Launches Nationwide, Challenging WillCall and Live Nation

StubHub Music, the concert discovery app developed by the renowned ticket reseller StubHub, is now available across the U.S., UK, and Canada. Initially piloted in San Francisco earlier this summer, the app aims to revolutionize how music fans find and purchase tickets for local events.

A Seamless Concert Discovery Experience

The app leverages your iTunes library to recommend upcoming concerts near you, offering a seamless transition from discovery to ticket purchase—whether through StubHub or other platforms. Key features include:

  • Radius Adjustment: Find events within a customizable distance from your location.
  • Push Notifications: Get alerts when favorite artists are coming to town.
  • Social Integration: Share events with friends via email or messaging.

Beyond Ticket Sales: Building Fan Engagement

According to StubHub spokesperson Smita Saran, the app isn’t just about driving sales—it’s about creating meaningful connections between fans and live music.

“This isn’t about driving traffic back to StubHub, necessarily,” said Saran. “It’s about finding ways to engage with people.”

The app is poised to integrate StubHub’s “GoTogether” feature, enabling users to invite friends and split ticket costs—a functionality already popular on StubHub’s main platform.

Future-Proofing the App

StubHub plans to expand the app’s capabilities by integrating with third-party music services like Spotify or Pandora, further personalizing recommendations. While specifics remain under wraps, Saran confirmed ongoing updates to enhance user experience.

The Big Picture

“This is an app that takes local music discovery to a national scale,” Saran emphasized. With its robust infrastructure and ties to PayPal (via parent company eBay), StubHub Music is well-positioned to compete with established players like WillCall and Live Nation.

As mobile-driven discovery becomes the norm, StubHub Music could redefine how fans experience live events—from the first notification to the final encore.
