Volume Secures $6M Seed Funding to Revolutionize Account-to-Account Payments
The High Cost of Traditional Payment Solutions
Online merchants typically lose up to 8% of every sale to payment processors like PayPal, Apple Pay, and Stripe—costs often passed on to consumers. Account-to-account (A2A) payments offer a compelling alternative, slashing transaction fees to under 1% and delivering significant savings for both businesses and buyers. However, the challenge has always been creating a seamless experience for all parties involved.
Volume’s Innovative Solution
Italian fintech startup Volume believes it has cracked the code with its one-click checkout widget, designed to integrate as effortlessly as PayPal.
“Traditional payment giants charge 2%–8% on every online transaction. We eliminate intermediaries—money moves directly from the customer’s bank to the merchant,” explains Simone Martinelli, Volume’s CEO and founder.
The UX Breakthrough
Martinelli attributes Volume’s success to its user-centric design:
- Simplified authentication: Compresses bank details into a single click.
- Seamless integration: Works with Yapily for transaction processing and banking apps for authentication.

“We’ve built the ‘Apple Pay’ of A2A payments,” Martinelli claims.

Volume recently closed a $6 million seed round led by United Ventures, with participation from Fabrick, Firstminute Capital, and others. This follows a $2.4 million pre-seed round in 2022. The funds will fuel:
- UK FCA approval
- International expansion
- Team growth, including hires from Curve, iZettle, and WorldRemit
Industry Context
The A2A space has seen turbulence, with startups like Fast (raised \(150M) and **Kevin** (\)65M) collapsing. Yet, Volume’s 163x GMV growth in the past year signals strong market potential.
“Volume’s traction validates the massive opportunity in A2A payments,” notes Paolo Gesess, United Ventures’ founder.
