Heading 1: Apple maintains strong tablet market share
Heading 2: IDC data shows a 6.5% decline in overall tablet shipments to 163.5 million units in 2017.
Apple’s tablet shipments, however, increased from 42.6 million to 43.8 million, giving the company a dominant market share of 27%, up from 24% in the previous year.
IDC found that traditional ‘slate’ tablet shipments decreased, while detachable tablet shipments were up 1.2% year-on-year.
In the final quarter of 2017 - the holiday period - detachables grew 10% to reach 6.5 million shipments, dwarfed by slate tablets at 43.1 million in the same quarter, with Apple accounting for a dominant 27% share.
