Game Industry Veteran Bill Roper Joins Improbable as Chief Creative Officer

London-based tech firm Improbable strengthens leadership team with gaming and marketing veterans

Improbable, the British technology company behind the groundbreaking SpatialOS platform, has made two strategic executive hires to propel its next phase of growth. The company has brought on Bill Roper, a 23-year gaming industry veteran, as Chief Creative Officer, and Jason Jhonson as Chief Marketing Officer.

Bill Roper’s Impressive Gaming Pedigree

Roper brings unparalleled experience to Improbable, having held key creative roles at some of gaming’s most influential companies:

  • Disney Interactive (Vice President): Led development on Disney Infinity before its 2016 discontinuation
  • Blizzard Entertainment (Creative Executive): Instrumental in launching iconic franchises including Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo
  • Flagship Studios (CEO): Oversaw development of Hellgate: London
  • Cryptic Studios (Chief Creative Officer)

In an interview, Roper shared his enthusiasm for joining Improbable: “Looking at what the possibilities were with SpatialOS really piqued my interest and set my creative juices aflame.”

The SpatialOS Vision

As Chief Creative Officer, Roper will focus on:

  • Helping developers maximize the creative potential of SpatialOS
  • Enabling new gameplay types through massive, persistent online worlds
  • Supporting studios in overcoming technical limitations

“I love the idea of getting involved with developers at a platform level,” Roper explained. “I can work with a lot of developers and do something impactful for the industry.”

Jason Jhonson Joins as CMO

The company also welcomed Jason Jhonson as Chief Marketing Officer. Jhonson brings extensive experience from:

  • GitHub: Directed brand, product, and developer marketing for 22M+ developers

Improbable’s Growing Momentum
