Rockville, Maryland-based Homesnap has come a long way from its days as a consumer-facing app that uses an iPhone camera to see the house in front of you. While its current app still works this way for prospective buyers, its core focus is now on U.S. real estate agents.
Under CEO John Mazur’s leadership, Homesnap has managed to register about 400,000 real estate agents who use the platform to find valuable information like how long a home has been on the market and which agents are associated with it. The real draw is its access to real-time MLS listings that make it easier for them to match buyers and sellers.
In a vote of confidence about its new direction, Homesnap has raised \(14 million in a Series B round led by Updata Partners, with participation from Moderne Ventures. This brings the total funding to \)32 million, which includes prior funding from Revolution, the venture firm started by AOL co-founder Steve Case.
Homesnap’s platform has aggregated real estate data in 125 metropolitan areas and is now considered a hit within the industry. Homesnap Pro is available for free use among agents while they also offer online marketing campaigns for listings through paid services, which are supported by imported data from various platforms like Facebook and Google.
