With today’s update to Google Drive, users can now easily comment on Office files, PDFs, and images directly within the Drive preview pane. This marks a step towards making G Suite and Microsoft Office more interoperable without having to resort to conversion tools or paying for additional software.

This new feature is part of other initiatives by Google, such as its Drive plugin for Outlook, which aim to bridge the gap between the two productivity giants. In an ideal world, everyone would use G Suite, but in reality, Microsoft’s Office tools remain far more popular in most businesses.

In addition to making it easier for teams and agencies to work with a mix of G Suite and Microsoft Office, this new update also brings Google one step closer to capturing the larger enterprise market that has thus far eluded them.
