The Magic Leap, a premium augmented reality computer, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Turner Sports. This collaboration will enable live game streaming of NBA games through the Magic Leap One ‘Creator Edition’ app.
At an event at Code Media conference in Huntington Beach, California, the announcement was made onstage. This partnership is the first significant use case for Magic Leap that has been reported so far. The experience offered by this technology sounds similar to virtual reality and allows fans to feel as if they are sitting courtside during a game.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver explained that the goal when working with Magic Leap was not only to replicate the court-side experience, but also to amplify it further. Rony Abovitz, CEO of Magic Leap expressed his excitement for this innovative technology by saying,
