Homebrew, a prominent seed-stage venture firm, has announced the closure of its third fund with an impressive $90 million investment. Led by seasoned professionals Hunter Walk and Satya Patel, Homebrew aims to invest in up to six startups per year across the United States.
Since its inception in 2013, Homebrew has raised funding increments steadily increasing from \(50 million in 2015 to \)90 million in its current fund. The firm’s previous investments include notable companies such as Managed by Q, Shyp and theSkimm. Additionally, Homebrew has experienced exits with the acquisitions of Bond Street by Goldman Sachs, and Clementine by Dropbox.
In a blog post announcing the fund closure, Homebrew’s team highlights their strategy to focus capital, time, and reputation on supporting six to eight new investments annually, while working closely with these startups to help them grow as envisioned. The firm is particularly interested in teams with clear visions for the future, who approach disruptions with love and empathy rather than contempt.
Hunter Walk, a key member of Homebrew’s team, has an extensive background at prominent companies like YouTube and Google. Prior to joining Homebrew, Satya Patel served as VP of product at Twitter and was also associated with Battery Ventures, as well as working at Google. The other members of the team include Beth Scheer, head of talent, and Charo Gioia, director of operations.
